My baby crawled around in the playpen as I sat for 12 hours cleaning the floors, and taking down the wallpaper. Ha! It was all starting to come together but it wasn't quite finished. It would take the time, energy, and of course my favourite shopping experience for furniture to decorate this home. To stay on budget I started going to estate sales along with my three boys searching for gems hidden in the dirt. We would go from Thursday to Saturday at estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. After that, I painted and sanded in the driveway in the week. Looked a little something like it... That's where my passion for restoration of furniture started. After our home was fully furnished, I still couldn't stop! In the market in town, I rented a small space and sold some objects. There were lots of pieces, I didn't have a clue what to do with them and outgrew the space. There were open houses in my home that saw more than 1 000 visitors would come through in a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted on the ground floor. Growing Days was created in this house. Not only was my business flourishing, but I was also growing my sweet family too. It was a balance between starting a business and becoming a mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora was born in 2013 as our 4th baby. This was an excellent direction for my business however, I needed a vacation. I opted to take a little breaks from my old furniture and stay at home with the children. This was precisely what I wanted. But after a short time the phone started ringing. Calls came in asking me to assist them in decorating their homes and interiors. It was mostly those who came to my open house for furniture. After that, I gradually took on new clients according to my own pace. Soon I had multiple customers and was operating a business of home renovations. If you'd told me that my venture would end up being an idea for the DIY Network show, I would probably have thought you were crazy. It's funny to think back to it.
